Sound is a continuous analog wave. When you record audio digitally, your interface takes snapshots of that wave thousands of times per second and converts each snapshot into a digital value. Hammond B3 Organ Review: Why This Instrument Still Cannot Be Replaced

The Hammond B3 organ was introduced in 1954 as a less expensive alternative to pipe organs for churches that could not afford the real thing. What happened instead was that jazz musicians, gospel players, rock organists, and soul keyboardists discovered what it could do when pushed through a Leslie speaker cabinet and played with the drawbars pulled out — and an entirely new category of instrument sound was born that no digital recreation has fully replicated in seventy years of trying.
